To further demonstrate Janssen’s commitment to HIV, the TAILORING CARE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME was established in 2009. The scholarship offers applicants the opportunity to gain an award to the value of £5,000 over a 12 month period, to further their education in the treatment of HIV.
This provides an opportunity for aspiring physicians to benefit from the experience of experts within the specialist fields in which they wish to develop. It is not the intention of Janssen to replace or conflict with any existing NHS personal development programmes or specific Trust mentoring initiatives.
Janssen has strict internal healthcare compliance policies which ensure the separation of educational from promotional activities. This scholarship programme is considered an educational activity and as such has no links to commercial activities.
Aspiring and recently appointed consultants are invited to apply for the Scholarship through a competitive, anonymous application process. Applications are assessed by members of the Tailoring Care Faculty with no involvement from Janssen. Successful applicants are appointed a mentor from the Tailoring Care faculty in agreement with their own Educational Supervisor/Medical Employer.
Each year 4 applicants will be chosen to receive the Scholarship. Announcement of this takes place in October. Successful applicants and their assigned mentors then develop a bespoke training roadmap. This roadmap is tailored to their application in order for applicants to achieve their personal goals. The bespoke training can include:
