Guidance
The Tailoring Care Scholarship programme is open, through competitive application to aspiring and junior consultants who wish to improve the clinical care and management of people living with HIV in the UK.
Applicants must satisfy the following criteria:
Medical graduates who have been registered with the General Medical Council of the United Kingdom and have held a qualification for at least five years to practice Medicine, Surgery and Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
Candidates must produce satisfactory evidence that, after qualification, they have had regular, ongoing, clinical contact with HIV medicine over a 2-year period at Specialist Registrar level or above, which includes experience of both inpatient and outpatient care.
Applicants must provide:
- Full contact details
- Current place of work
- Professional qualifications and dates
- GMC registration number
- HIV Employment history and dates
- Signed consent from, and contact details of their Educational Supervisor/ Medical Employer
Applicants must choose one topic from the scholarship themes:
- Complicated patients (for example: co-infection, co-morbidity, highly treatment experienced etc)
- Special populations (for example: paediatrics, adolescents, women, late presenters, ageing etc)
- In-patient care
Applicants are required to submit a personal statement (500-750 words) about the current challenges they face in their unit, managing patients with HIV and how the bespoke training/funding could improve patient care.
Applicants are required to describe their vision/commitment to improving the lives of patients living with HIV in their units. (500-750 words) Suggested areas to cover include:
- What services they would like to offer
- How these services would be delivered and by who
- What would be required to implement the above
